Attendants warn over car thieves

posted in Cars |

Parking attendants in south Somerset are to warn the public when they leave valuable items on view in their cars.

The scheme will see attendants arrange letters to the car owners saying their cars are vulnerable to a break-in.

Steve Brewer, from South Somerset District Council, said attendants will take a note of car details when they see something “worrying”.

“They then tell the police who send out a warning to bring the matter to the car driver’s attention.”

Mr Brewer added that lots of things can attract the attention of thieves.

“Many people don’t realise that even a bag of food shopping left in sight could look like something valuable to a thief, so we’re really just letting people know to be thoughtful and helping drivers to protect themselves.”
